OK, I’ll admit it, I read all three books in the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, and even saw the movies!
I couldn’t tear myself away from the books, and the first two movies were so-so, the third one rocked!
If you read the books, you might remember that Christian Grey saw a therapist for Solution Focused Based Therapy or SFBT.
I checked and it’s a real thing!
What is Solution Focused Based Therapy SFBT?
“SFBT is future-focused, goal-directed, and focuses on solutions, rather than on the problems that brought clients to seek therapy” according to the Institute for Solution Focused Therapy.
Check out the video below that explains more:
SFBT is designed to help achieve goals. It celebrates small successes and brings them into awareness in order to repeat the successes.
There are other interesting therapies too, such as “walk talk” therapy! “Walk Talk Therapy is just like it sounds—the client and the therapist are outside walking during therapy instead of sitting inside an office” according to the Walk Talk Therapy website.
Walk Talk therapy has many benefits like activating the brain, it’s good exercise and provides a great mind/body connection.
If you want to stay home and receive therapy in the comfort of your own living room check out iTherapy, which “allows you to meet and select a licensed, caring counselor in a fully secure and confidential setting” says iTherapy.com.
Sometimes we need to speak to a professional that can guide us in the right direction, no matter if it’s on a couch, online or walking outside!
Do any of these therapies sound interesting to you? Please leave a comment.
