Could You Be A “Short Sleeper”?
Recently there was a story on the news regarding “Short Sleepers”.
According to ABC News, less than 1% of the population is made up of short sleepers.
What’s a “Short Sleeper”?
A short sleeper is someone that requires very little sleep at night. Because of a genetic mutation, Short Sleepers are UNABLE to sleep longer than a couple of hours, and are still fully rested when they wake up. Even on vacation, they wake up after four hours or less. They are considered night owls AND early birds, which for “Short Sleepers” is normal!
Here are some other traits of a “Short Sleeper”:
- Don’t use an alarm clock
- Rarely yawn
- Don’t need caffeine
- Don’t take naps
- Are not sleep deprived
- Have no negative health effects
- Are never tired
- Are very active
Why Short Sleepers Are Not Insomniacs!
The difference between short sleepers and Insomniacs is that short sleepers don’t require much sleep, while Insomniacs have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep through the night, which can effect health.
Personally, I don’t believe I know a short sleeper, but I do know PLENTY of insomniacs! Watch the video below to determine if you or someone you know, might be a short sleeper!
