Do you like to volunteer?
Volunteering can provide you with a sense of purpose and can also reduce stress, combat depression and keeps you mentally stimulated.
After attending a two hour orientation at Clatsop County Animal Shelter, we couldn’t wait to start walking shelter dogs.
It’s a great way for the dogs to get needed exercise, be around people, and breathe in some pure fresh air, which benefits the pups as well as yourself.
At the shelter, not only can you walk dogs, but there are other opportunities to help animals like:
- Socializing the animals.
- Playing with the cats.
- Greeting the public.
- Answering phones.
- Being a matchmaker between pets and homes.
- Cleaning kennels, cages and facility.
- Handling adoption outreach and special events.
Clatsop County Animal Shelter volunteers are compassionate, organized, and have a great love for animals. Even a vet tech comes in twice a week to do checkups on the animals.
If you need exercise and like to walk dogs, this is the way to go!! As an added unexpected bonus, you can acquire hundreds or even thousands of steps on your FitBit! Check out “Achieve Your Daily FitBit Goal by Doing These 8 Common Things!“
