On my Last Post, I mentioned that while I was sick in bed, I attended a phone seminar on “Laughter Meditation”. Have you HEARD OF THIS?
Once you dial into the seminar, the person conducting the seminar describes what is about to take place. When she gives you the go, you are supposed to “START LAUGHING”, even if it’s FAKE laughter.
Feeling very negative (which normally isn’t me) there I was in bed on the phone thinking it all sounded kind of RIDICULOUS. I was sure I wouldn’t laugh, but I’d at least I’d listen. A couple minutes later I started listening to people from all over the Country laughing “on my speaker phone”. After listening for about 30 seconds, I couldn’t help but laugh myself and I COULDN’T STOP! WOW, it really made me feel good.
After what seemed like 5 minutes, a little chime sounded, which signified that you were now supposed to STOP laughing, become silent, and meditate for a couple of minutes. It was very interesting and uplifting, to say the least.
The speaker, Pragito Dove, wrote a book called Laughter, Tears, Silence, which I’m reading. It’s Pretty good and I highly recommend it. It goes into more detail about how to include laughter into your daily life. Who doesn’t Love to laugh?
Laughter Yoga and Laughter Meditation classes are starting to become very popular and classes are popping up all over the Country. Here’s hoping that they will offer Laughter Meditation/Yoga at the NEW YMCA on Snoqualmie Ridge…someday soon!
