Being Energetic is not JUST about diet and exercise!

EnergyFitGirl.comHow are YOUR energy levels?

Are you doing what you want to do in life, or are you just TOO tired? Are you constantly dragging through your day? I’m sure, like most of us, you have a full time job and a full plate (in more ways than one)! There’s family responsibilities, a household to manage, health issues, money concerns, and not much time to actually focus on yourself. Sound familiar? There’s just NOT ENOUGH time in the day, right?

Yes, a nutritious diet and exercise are EXTREMELY important, but there are so many additional factors involved for increasing energy levels like:

Reducing your mental and physical clutter
Taking vitamins
Allergy proofing your home (allergies zap your energy)
Organizing your meals in advance
Decreasing and even eliminating refined sugar
Ditching the alcohol and diet soda (drink water instead)
Maintaining a daily wellness routine
Planning doctor visits BEFORE you are sick
Having useful hobbies
Keeping your brain active.

I don’t usually drink coffee!

People ALWAYS ask where my energy comes from. Eating nutritious foods, living a balanced life, being organized, etc. TRULY DOES go a long way. Honestly, I don’t usually DRINK COFFEE! Although, I do sometimes like the occasional Grande, Decaf, Nonfat, Sugar-Free Hazelnut, Soy Latte with no foam. LOL! What’s your favorite coffee drink?

Rome wasn’t built in a day, ya know!

Wouldn’t you like to increase YOUR energy levels, naturally? Naturally, meaning NO prescription drugs or caffeine… Can you imagine feeling alert and energetic every single day? What would being alert all day, until bedtime, feel like? I’m hear to tell you that IT IS POSSIBLE! Having energy on a daily basis is NOT just about being on a diet and exercising like a maniac, it’s so much more that that. It’s about making small lifestyle changes, a little at a time. Rome wasn’t built in a day, ya know!

It’s also about allowing yourself to have a little fun doing selfish things like reading, playing games and even scrap-booking. What kind of hobbies do you like to do? Once you start incorporating changes, you will notice that YOUR energy levels will increase, and as a bonus, you might even drop excess weight and keep it off forever. Does that sound like something YOU might want to try?

Do YOU struggle with weight loss?

Are YOU or were YOU ever a Yo-Yo dieter? Well, I used to be. I used to starve myself and either eat NOTHING or very few calories. I actually lost weight and looked FANTASTIC, BUT I felt weak. When I got tired of feeling hungry and weak, I would go to the other extreme of eating lots of fast-food, candy, ice cream and pizza. Oh, they were so delicious, but I would gain all the weight back and then some. I Yo-Yo dieted for quite a long time. At one point I ate so much at night, that I went to bed stuffed and it was so UNCOMFORTABLE. CRAZY STUFF!

At one point, I wouldn’t wear pants, because I looked too fat in them. When I wore dresses, I was able to disguise my weight gain. I’ve always been blessed with a thin waist, but gained weight mainly in my butt and legs. Did YOU ever “hide” in your home because you felt fat? When I felt really fat, I wouldn’t go out at all because I was embarrassed. When I did go out, I was always on a diet and was constantly worried about eating too much. It was an endless cycle and DRAINING.

Constant exercise actually made me HUNGRY and I GAINED weight, because I ATE MORE!

At one point, I became addicted to exercise. Sounds like a good addiction, right? I used to participate EXCESSIVELY in aerobics classes, cardio machines, and weight training! Sometimes I visited the gym two times per day. The constant exercise actually made me HUNGRY and I GAINED weight, because I ATE MORE! I think my highest weight EVER was 140 pounds. For my small frame, that’s a LOT of weight.

What YOUR worst diet experience?

What was the worst diet YOU ever went on? Have you tried the “all you can eat” soup diet, the grapefruit diet, and let’s not forget, the Atkins diet? I tried all of those and actually joined Over-eaters anonymous too! I also joined Diet Center and lost all the weight (in a healthy way) and kept it off for a while, but gained some of it back. I then joined Weight Watchers, which taught me about portion control and actually became a lifetime Member. I managed to maintain my weight and have kept it off for 20+ years, but I haven’t followed Weight Watchers since I became a lifetime member. Weight Watchers is a fantastic program, but I always thought about food and points and it was JUST too much trouble. I now eat nothing but nutritious foods, and in 2011 I stopped eating meat.

I’m FULL OF ENERGY! Want some?

Have you been around people that eat whatever they want, but never seem to gain weight? My hubby is like that. Isn’t it annoying?  In all honesty, as I mentioned earlier, I really have maintained my weight for over 20 years, and teeter comfortably between 120 – 125 pounds. I wear size 6 – 8 pants and my dresses are size 4-6 AND I still have a small waist. Sometimes I buy new clothes just to stay current, even though my OLD clothes still fit. I still exercise 4 – 6 days per week (cardio, weight training, biking, tennis, walking the dogs), but not obsessively. The BEST part, I know I sound like a parrot, but I’m FULL OF ENERGY! Want some?
